Ionia Sentinel-Standard
Helen E. Lantz, 82, of 307 Kent St., died Thursday at St. Lawrence Hospital in 
Lansing.  She was born May 31, 1898 in Portland, the daughter of Benjamin Roe 
and Marietta Beard.  She was a member of the Portland Methodist Church, retired 
teachers association, Portland senior citizens and the Eastern Star No. 258.  
She graduated from Western Michigan University, and taught physical education in 
detroit and Portland schools.

She is survived by her son, David Lantz of Lansing; two grandchildren; one 
great-grandson; a sister, Mrs. Genevieve Courtney of Boca Raton, Fla.; and 
several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday at 1 pm from the Neller Funeral Home with the Rev. Dow 
Chamberlain officiating.  Burial will be in Portland Cemetery.  The family will 
be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 8:30 and Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 
4 and 7 to 8:30 pm.  Memorials may be left at the funeral home for the Portland 
United Methodist Church.
