Lanz, 68, of 1899 East Peck Lake road, died Tuesday evening of a heart condition at the Ionia County Memorial hospital. Born in Orange township November 28, 1905, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Lanz. October 1, 1927 he was married in Berlin township to Zelda Riggs. He had farmed all his life in Orange township and was a member of the Berlin Center grange, the Farm Bureau and LeValley United Methodist church. Surviving besides the wife, Zelda, are for sons, William and James of Lyons, Max, Jr., of Sao Paula, Brazil, and Robert of Ionia; three daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Potts of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Mary Tasma of Wyoming and Mrs. Joyce Gwilt of Portland; 30 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 pm at the LeValley United Methodist church. Rev. Maurice Christenson of Portland will officiate and interment will be at Balcom cemetery. The family will be at the Myers-Roetman funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The body will be taken to the church at noon Friday. A memorial has been established for LeValley United Methodist church.
