When she was four years old she came with her parents to Michigan, settling in Ionia county, where she has since lived. She was married to Melvin Lapo on June 19, 1907. To Mr. and Mrs. Lapo were born three children, Hazel and the twins, Raymond and Robert. Three years ago the family left the farm in Ionia township and took up their residence in Lake Odessa. For a number of years Mrs. Lapo has been in failing health. While everything that loving care and medical skill could do was done for her, she fought a losing battle and passed to the Great Beyond from Blodgett hospital in Grand Rapids, on May 27, at the age of 41 years, 9 months and 26 days. She leaves to mourn their loss, her devoted husband, the three children named above, one brother, Leon McQuillan of Ionia, and her father and mother also of Ionia; besides many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Lapo was a woman of beautiful disposition. While her strength did not permit of the extended service her heart would gladly have rendered outside her home, yet to the full measure of her ability she gave herself to life’s obligations, especially to wife and mother. The funeral was held at the Methodist church, Rev. O. F. Bulman, the pastor preaching. Burial was at Lake Side cemetery. The sons’ class of the public school attended in a body and the Rebekahs acted as escort. Card of Thanks We extend our sincere thanks to the dear friends and neighbors, who so kindly assisted us in our sorrow during the sickness and death of our beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister. Also, the lodges for their wonderful help and floral offerings and to Rev. Bulman for his comforting words.
