March 8, 2016 JOYCE ELIZABETH LAREAU Joyce Elizabeth Lareau of Eaton Rapids, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2016 at the age of 83. Joyce was born in 1933 to Otto and Anna cook in Pewamo, MI. Joyce's parents were both deceased by the time she was 19 years old age she was then lovingly raised by her older sisters. Joyce graduated from Resurrection High School in Lansing in 1951 and married Jerome David Lareau in 1953. After having five children, Joyce enrolled in college and graduated with an RN degree in 1970 when her children were between ages of 7 and 15. She worked as a nurse in the recovery room at St. Mary's Hospital in Livonia for 15 years before retiring to Eaton Rapids with Jerome in 1987. In retirement, Joyce thoroughly enjoyed entertaining family, friends, and neighbors. She and Jerome traveled extensively both in their travel trailer throughout the U.S. and Canada, and internationally from Russia to Africa. She was a woman of deep faith and an active volunteer for the Red Cross and St. Vincent DePaul. Joyce was an avid gardener and often gave away as much produce as she kept! Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jerome; and sisters, Genevieve Bowen and Rose Fedewa. She will be lovingly remembered by daughter, Nanette (Terrance) Conant and Sharon Lareau; sons, Gregory Lareau, Mark Lareau, and Steven Lareau; grandchildren, Bryan Lareau, Aimee (Robin) Richter and Connor Lareau; great-granddaughters Rebecca and Evelyn Richter; sisters, Virginia Olson and Phyllis (Larry) Alden; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Eaton Rapids with Fr. George Puthenpeedika as celebrant. There will be private family committal service at Rosehill Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St.Vincent DePaul in memory of Joyce Lareau.
