Dec. 10, 2009 Angels came and carried Charles “Chuck” Lars Larsen home to the arms of his Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 8 after a strong and noble battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 14, 1934 to Grace and Chester Larsen in Ionia. He graduated from Ionia High School and in 1955 was drafted to the Army where he served 2 years in the 3rd Armored Cavalry with 18 months served in Germany. In 1954, he married the love of his life, Dixie Wiles. He worked for Wm. Morris and Son for 26 years where he became skilled in many trades and the Ionia Public Schools in Maintenance until he retired in 1998. He was a handyman who could fix or build anything. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great- grandchildren, being outdoors working in his garden and tending to his lawn, camping, hunting, fishing and he enjoyed his winter home in Fort Myers Beach, Fla., where he and Dix have made many friends. In the late 80’s Chuck was introduced to the game of golf and enjoyed it immensely with his family, brother Vic, and Florida Friends. He was an avid sports fan and Nascar (Jeff Gordon) fan. He loved the Lord and was an active member of Easton United Methodist Church, where he loved he church family. Chuck is survived by his loving family; wife of 55 years, Dixie; children Connie (Dan) Frazer, Julie (Bruce) MacDonald and Chuck (Tina) Larsen; grandchildren, Marcie (Andrew) Gates, Danielle (Craig)Fedewa, Jena Frazer, Katie and Emily MacDonald and Amber, Jordan and Derrick Larsen; great- grandchildren Addison and Hosea Gates and Carter and Hudson Fedewa; sister, Bea (Dale) Hauter; brother Vic (Sherry) Larsen; sister-in-law, Evelyn Wiles; brothers-in-law, Bob Wiles, Jim Huntley and Melvin Harrison and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, sister Donna Huntley, brothers Chester and David Larsen. Brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Max Wiles, Andrew and Jane Walaskay, Arlone Payne and Judy Wiles. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends and relatives from 1 to 2:30p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13 at Easton United Methodist Church. A Memorial Service is planned for 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13 at Easton United Methodist Church, corner of Johnson and Potters Roads, Ionia. Arrangements are being made by Lake Funeral Home in Saranac. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Easton United Methodist Church.
