Jan. 10, 1972 A former Ionia resident, Chester E. Larsen, 35, of 8 Ferry Avenue, Fairhaven, Mass., died suddenly Sunday in Columbus, Ind. Born in Easton Township, August 21, 1936, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester W. Larsen. He served in the air force eight years and had lived the past two years in Massachusetts. He was self-employed truck driver and worked on boats as a fisherman at New Bedford, Mass., many years and was a member of the Teamsters Union. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Larsen; three brothers, Charles and Victor Larsen; of Ionia and David Larsen of Dayton, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Hauter of Saranac and Mrs. Donna Huntley of Ionia. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Myers-Roetman funeral home. Rev. Byron Davies will officiate and interment will be at Easton cemetery. A memorial has been established for the heart fund. Family will be at the funeral home Monday and Tuesday from 9 until 9 p.m. Ionia Sentinel Standard – Jan. 13, 1972 Chester E. Larsen Funeral services for Chester Larsen who died Sunday morning at Columbus, Ind., were Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Ionia. The Rev. Byron Davies officiated and interment was at Easton Cemetery. Bearers were Lawrence Borton, Thomas Hauter, James Thompson, Thomas Handlin, Charles Hellmer and R.M. Steel, Jr. Girard Horrocks post 37 of American Legion conducted military services at the graveside under the direction of Otto Horrocks. Color Guard consisted of Dale Drake, James Horrocks, Essa K. Horrocks and Kenneth Horrocks. Firing squad were Burdette Lampman and Kenneth Horrocks. Blowing taps was Bruce Melvin with echo by David Webster. American flag was folded by Carroll Drake and Carl Seabrook and presented the family by Mr. Seabrook.
