LARSON, 65, rural Ionia, died Tuesday in Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Berlin Township Dec. 18, 1919, the son of Holgar and Ruth Larson. He attended rural schools and graduated from Ionia High School in 1938. He married Jean Katherine Hoenicke Oct. 20, 1945, in Portland, and she preceded him in death September 8, 1983. He was a farmer, and was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army's 320th Infantry in an anti-tank company. He returned to the Ionia area after the war, where he owned Larson Gravel Company for more than 25 years. Survivors include one daughter, Shereen Lytle of Ionia; three sons, Gary, Michael and Steven, all of Ionia; and six grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Jane Robinson of Ionia, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. from the Montgomery-Leddick Funeral Home, with the Rev. Willis Braun of the LeValley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Balcom Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial has been established to the Ionia Hospice, in care of the funeral home."
