IONIA FARMER DEATH VICTIM FRIDAY NIGHT
A Second Emergency Operation Performed on Francis Larson, But Death Follows; 
Set Funeral for Monday

Francis Larson, Ionia township farmer, died late Friday in the Community 
Hospital, where he was taken December 27 for an emergency operation.  Mr. 
Larson was stricken before Christmas with an intestinal obstruction, and his 
condition became so serious that an operation was performed last Saturday.  
Following his operation his condition was reported favorable, and his recovery 
was considered possible.  Friday morning he became worse, and a specialist 
again called from Grand Rapids to assist in making a diagnosis.  A second 
operation was resorted to, but death intervened two hours later.

Mr. Larson was born in Denmark 71 years ago, and came to the United States 55 
years ago, and for 30 years previous to coming to this county he had lived in 
Illinois.  In 1905 he came to this locality, having lived here since.

Surviving is the widow; sons Holgar, William, Elmer and Harry, of Ionia, Dr. 
Arthur Larson of Wayland; a daughter, Mrs. Clyde Morris of Grand Ledge; a 
sister Mrs. Anna Kaehne of Belding, and a half- brother.

The funeral services are to be held Monday afternoon at the home at 1:15 and 
at the LeValley church where Mr. Larson held membership, at 2 o’clock.  The 
services will be conducted by Rev. Charles Hayward, of Saranac, long a 
personal friend of the deceased, assisted by Rev. J. M. Jensen, pastor of the 
church.  The burial will be made in the Balcom cemetery.
