Ruth Larson, 72, of Lyons died at Ionia County Memorial hospital at 2:30 Saturday afternoon where she was a patient one day. She had been ill the past two years. She was a graduate of Lyons high school and Albion college and taught school in Ionia county about 35 years. She retired in 1958. Born in Lyons township, March 4, 1892, she was the daughter of Melvin and Clara Hatch Searing, and was married August 15, 1917 to Holgar Larson who died in June 1962. Mr. and Mrs. Larson lived on David highway 28 years and in 1946 moved to Lyons where she had since resided. Mrs. Larson was a member of Lyons Methodist church and WSCS. She was a leader in 4-H club work for many years and a member of Michigan Education association. Survivors include two sons, Melvin of Ionia and Earnest Larson of Lyons; a daughter, Mrs. Jane Robinson of Belding; one brother, Harry Searing of Portland, and eight grandchildren. Funeral service will be at Boynton funeral home Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gerald Hedlund and Rev. Earle J. Stine officiating. Burial will be at Balcom cemetery.
