The Ionia Standard, Friday, August 22, 1890
H. B. Lathrop, aged 83 years, died at the farm home of William S. Bates, south 
Ionia township, on Wednesday morning.  Mr. L. was a widower, his wife, a 
sister of Wm. S. and Philo T. Bates, having died some thirty years ago.  An 
only son died several years ago, and since that sad event he has made his home 
most of the time with the first named of his brothers-in-law.  Funeral this 
Friday morning.
