Latta of Minneapolis, died Sunday in New Mexico, where he was spending his vacation on a ranch with his family and that of a neighbor. A brief telegram to Portland relatives said heart failure was the cause of his death. He was 61 years of age. Mr. Latta's first employment was in the National Bank of Ionia, a position he secured while his father was school commissioner in Allegan county. While at the Ionia National bank he received an appointment as state bar examiner. After leaving the state employ he went to the Peninsula Savings bank of Detroit, going from their to Minneapolis. At the time of his death he was the first vice- president of the Northwestern bank of that city. He is survived by his widow, who was formerly Christina Webber, of Portland, and two daughters, Marian and Jeannette. The body of M. Latta will arrive in Minneapolis Thursday. The Lattas left on a vacation trip to New Mexico three weeks ago. It was to have ended this week, when the daughter, Marian, a student at Smith college, was to take up a summer course of study.
