He was born January 18, 1878, in Keene township, the son of the late John and Lydia Laux. In 1902 he was married to Minnie Pederson at Oakes, North Dakota, and she died in 1907. He was later married to Ethel Finch who survives him. He was a farmer in Berlin township, Keene township and has been a resident of Ionia township for eleven years. Surviving besides his wife are five daughters, Mrs. Lyle Houghton of Route 4, Mrs. Lloyd Near of Freeport, Mrs. Leon Vandercar of Woodland, Mrs. Solomon Hershberger of Flint and Dorothy Laux as home; thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Peter of RFD Ionia, Alfred of Lowell, Rudolph of Banning, Cal., and William of Eustis, Fla. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Stone Kauffman funeral home with the Rev. Heath Goodwin officiating. Interment will be at Easton cemetery.
