Lawrence, 43, manager of the Cass and Shubert theaters of Detroit, died Monday evening in Providence hospital, Detroit, following an operation. He was the son of Richard Lawrence, Sr., of Ronald, who died several years ago. Mr. Lawrence was born in Flushing but lived the greater part of his boyhood days in Ronald. After completing his studies at the country school, he attended the Muir school several months, and later took a finishing and commercial course at Big Rapids. After leaving the Ferris institute, he secured a position as secretary to E. D. Stair, of Detroit, a prominent theater man and made a spectacular rise in the theater business circles with which he has been connected for 25 years.. He leaves his widow; two sons, Richard and Teddy; two sisters, Mrs. Latimer of Walla Walla, Wash., and Mrs. Margaret Lynch, of Detroit, and a brother, Joseph, who lives in the West.
