He was born July 29, 1926 in Jellico, Tenn., the son of George and Ida Morgan Lay. He retired from Gibson’s in 1975 after 27 years serving as a group leader. He was a member of the UAW Local 137. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Violet; and brothers, Ernest, William, Truman, Goman and Arlis. Vines is survived by his sister, Wanda McCoy of St. Mary’s, Ohio; sister-in-law, Jeannie Lay of Belding; and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Vines’ wishes, no services or visitation will take place. Interment is in Greene Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association. The family is being served by Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.
