LAY Norman J. Lay, 76, of 117 Grape St., Portland, died unexpectedly Monday (May 1). He had been a lifelong resident of the Portland and Westphalia area. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Lay was a member of the Portland American Legion Dale Hyland post. He was a member of the St. Joseph society of Westphalia and was affiliated with St. Patrick's Catholic church in Portland. Survivors include his wife Mary; one son, Ivan of Portland; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Irene Fedewa of Pewamo. Rosary will be said Wednesday (May 3) at 8:30 p.m. at the Neller Funeral Home, Portland, with services to be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's church, Fr. Malewitz officiating. Burial will be in Portland cemetery.
