He was born on April 10, 1919 in Langston, the son of Floyd and Hattie (Lemon) Layle. Mr. Layle worked for 37 years at the Federal Mogul Corporation in Greenville. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ionia and married the former Betty Decker in 1972 in Ionia. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ellsworth Layle; and sister, Dorothy Layle. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Betty; several nieces and nephews and a great niece. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Martin Culver 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Ionia, 105 E. Main St. Interment will follow the luncheon at the church at Orleans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cook Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
