Lake Odessa Wave-Thurs. September 9, 1976

Rites held Wed. For Dorr Layle

Dorr C. Layle, 82, of 1411 S.State Road, lake Odessa passed away Monday 
afternoon at the Provincial House at Hastings where he had been a patient since 
January 13, 1972.

He was born June 15, 1894 in Odessa Township, the son of George and Annie 
(Kriess) Layle and was a lifelong resident of the area and attended the rural 
school.

November 28, 1918 he married Florence King of Woodland and he lived at Ionia 
while he was employed at the Hayes manufacturing Company. They purchased a farm 
west of Clarksville in 1928 and after selling the farm they purchased a farm 
north of Woodbury on M-66 in 1943. He farmed and also worked at the AC. Spark 
Plug Company at Ionia and the Lake Odessa Canning Company before retiring in 
1959.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. David (Alice) Strimback of Lake Odessa; 
a stepson, Dale King of Middleville; ten grandchildren and 23 great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30, September 8 at the Pickens-Koops 
Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa. Rev.Edgar Perkins officiated with burial in 
Lakeside Cemetery.
