Jack D. Layton, 70, Portland, died Saturday in a Lansing hospital.  He was born
April 29, 1913 in Jackson, the son of Mark and Minnie Burrison Layton.  He was
retired from Fisher Body, and was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Portland.
 He was a veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Frances; one brother, Leland, of Mason; and many nieces
and nephews.  One brother, Linton, preceded him in death.

Rosary services were Monday at 8 p.m. from the Neller Funeral Home.  Funeral
mass will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. from St. Patrick’s Church, and burial will be in
the Portland Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be John Layton, Elmer Esch, Robert
Beard, Lanny Lynch, John Lehman, Tom Lehman, Larry Lehman, and George Lehman, Jr.
