Clifford A. Lazarus Sr., 87, of Ionia, died Sept. 12, 1994, at Ionia Memorial 
Hospital.  He was born in Mendon, Mich. June 30, 1907, the son of Joseph and 
Lucy (Bushnell) Lazarus.  He attended Battle Creek public schools.  He married 
Mary Maddox in 1929.  He came to Ionia in 1937.

Mr. Lazarus was a retired corrections officers for the U.S. Federal Prisons 
and the State of Michigan.  He also owned and operated the Quo Vadas Dog 
Kennels.  His hobby was flying airplanes.  He was a life member of the Battle 
Creek Lodge F&AM 0012.  He was a member of the retired state employees.

He is survived by two sons, Clifford Lazarus Jr. and Brandt Lazarus both of 
Ionia; one daughter, Patricia Blundy of Ionia; 21 grandchildren; 52 great 
grandchildren; one great great grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his 
wife in February of 1994; two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Hull Memorial 
Chapel in Muir.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the North Plains 
Community Church.  The Rev. Robert Jourdan will officiate.  Burial will be in 
the Highland Park Cemetery in Ionia.  Memorial has been established for 
Helping Hands Hospice.
