April 12, 1933 Scott P. Leach, 83, died Wednesday morning at his home, 127 Jones street, following several months of poor health. Funeral arrangements will not be completed until a nephew, John P. Leach of Reading can get here. The body is at the Boynton funeral chapel where friends may call and where the services later will be held. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery. It was the request of Mr. Leach that flowers be omitted at his funeral services. He was the son of Benjamin Leach and was born at Naples, N.Y. He came with his parents to Oakland County when five years of age and to Ionia 53 years ago. He had been an employee of the Grand Trunk Railroad while a resident of Oakland county and for years after coming to Ionia, was a repair man for the Pere Marquette Railway. After his retirement from the railroad service, he lived for 20 years on the farm north of Ionia, now belonging to Pat Scheid. His first wife, who was Lucy Patchett of Birmaingham, died in 1892. A year later he married Ada J. Rogers, the daughter of Joseph A. Rogers, an Ionia Pioeer who survives him. He was one of a family of 12 children in which there were nine boys and three girls, and the last one to go.
