Lake Odessa - Maurice Leak, 87, of Goddard Road, Lake Odessa, died Wednesday in
Pennock Hospital, Hastings.  He was born Nov. 3, 1901, in Sebewa Township, the
son of Edwin and Hermena Bulling Leak.  He attended Goddard rural school and
Lake Odessa High School.  He lived and farmed in Sebewa all his life.  He was
married to Bertha Jackson on Nov. 16, 1936, in Angola, Ind.  She died in 1965. 
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sebewa.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters: Maurice Leak of Edmore, Larry Leak
of Ionia, Janice Leak of Lake Odessa, Donna Tyler of Lowell, and Dennis Leak of
Charlotte, N.C.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren and two great
grandchildren, and a brother and a sister, Maynard Leak of Lansing and Naomi
Gattner, also of Lansing.  A brother, Zeno, and a sister, Mildred, preceded him
in death.

Funeral services were Friday at 1 p.m. from the Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake
Odessa.  The Rev. Robert Wessell and the Rev. Dick Cross officiated.  Burial was
in the Sebewa Cemetery.  The family was at the funeral home Friday from 2-4 p.m.
and 7 to 9 p.m.  A memorial for First Baptist Church of Sebewa has been
established, in the care of the funeral home.
