October 28, 2022 MAURICE FRANK LEAK EDMORE-Maurice Frank Leak,84, of Edmore, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Green Acres in Mt.Pleasant. He was born to Maurice and Bertha (Jackson) Leak on June 24, 1938, and was raised on their farm in Lake Odessa. After graduating from Lake Odessa High School, Frank joined the US Navy and served for 4 years as a Radioman and Electrician's Mate. He later earned a bachelor's degree in electronics at ferris State college. While in college, Frank met his lifelong love, Elaine, and they were married June 10, 1967. Together they spent most of their married life living in Edmore where they raised their 2 children, Michelle and Michael. Frank established a business in Edmore, Frank's TV. Starting with Television and radio repair, he later added other electronic repair services, and also opened a video rental business run by the family. Frank loved playing church softball, golfing with friends, bowling singles and doubles on leagues in the area, and he coached Little League for several years. Frank was always willing to lend a hand setting up sound systems for area parades and ceremonies.After retirement, he and Elaine helped build the Edmore Farmer's Market, headed the Montabella Ministerial Food Pantry, and was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, where he helped with the Potato Tent and Vacation Bible School. Frank and Elaine loved traveling. They took the family on trips to New York,North Carolina, California, and Washington DC. He also enjoyed spending many weekends in Traverse City with his brothers and sisters.A farm boy at heart, he was especially proud of his large garden, spending many hours growing zucchini, radishes, and cherry tomatoes among other vegetables. Frank and Elaine were frequent customers at Burger King in Edmore, where he could pick on as many people as possible. Frank is survived by his children, Michelle (Ted) Leak-Rensland of Edmore and Michael (Sindi) Leak of Mt.Pleasant; grandchildren Mara,Seth,Kyle, Tarryn (Nanette)Trayton and Tristyn; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by is sisters, Janice Leak of Lake Odessa and Donna Tyler of Lowell; brothers, Larry (Joyce) Leak of Ionia and Dennis (Helen) Leak of Charlotte,NC.; sisters- in-law Barb Weeks of Greenfield,MA and Mary Kay Carr of Battle Creek. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Bertha; wife Elaine; and son-in-law Ted. Frank's life is being celebrated on Saturday,October 29, 2022, at Faith United Methodist Church in Edmore (833 S. 1st Street). Visitation will be from 11 AM to 12 Noon, with a memorial service starting at 12 Noon, with a luncheon afterwards. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations e made to Fairth United Methodist church. The family would like to thank the staff of Green Acres of Mt.Pleasant and The care team Hospice for the excellent care of both Frank and Elaine in the last few months.
