September 14, 2024 Ronald Lee Lear, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on September 7, 2024. He was born on October 15, 1937 in Mulliken, MI. He graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1956. He then attended Western Michigan University in 1957 and transferred to the University of Michigan in 1958 earning a degree in engineering.Ron then joined the Arm from 1962-1964 helping design bridges and other constructin plans. Ron met his wife, Martha (Roberts),in Mississippi. Both went on to parent exceptional children. In 1982, Ron married Jancy (Holley). The couple spent a cherished 41 years together. Combined they raised eight children, who blessed them with 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Ronald spent much of his time building and fixing thingsHe was a good handyman. He led a remarkably frugal existence while still making sure his family was well taken care of.He was a very patient man who always had a smile on his face and loved teasing and joking with others. He enjoyed watching western movies and playing a game of solitaire or sudoku and playing Bingo at COA, but mostly loved spending time at home with his family. Ron will be forever missed by his wife, Jancy Lear; his children, Joe (Sheila)Lear, Jerry Lear, Genia(Jason) Olmstead, Ryon Lear, Callie Lear, Dylan Lear, and his two stepchildren, Ed Vandecar & James Vandecar; his brothers, Bill(Bert)Lear and Jon (Sandy) Boyer, and his sisters, Phyllis Teegarden and Joni (Rick) Pethke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren (Bonnie) Lear and Beatrice (Herm) Boyer; his two grandsons, Michael Vandecar & James Vandecar, and his first wife, Martha Lear. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, Oct.12, 2024 at the Clarksville Village Hall(162 S. Main St., Clarksville,MI 48815) at noon. A lunch will be served by the Woodland Auxiliary #3782.
