He was born July 4, 1918, in Detroit, the son of Vernon Cady and Isabelle May White Le Clear. He married Mary Ellen Vander Maas on March 23, 1940, in Detroit. Walter worked for R. J. Tower Corp. for 26 years and was a member of United Furniture Workers Union. He also was a member of First Church of God, Greenville, and Greenville Area Senior Citizen Center. He aws a veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly Vander Molen, on Dec. 8, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen, and their children, Thomas and Bonnie Le Clear of Kalamazoo, Douglas and Marcella Le Clear of Coloma, Marilyn and Jim Greenwood of Grand Blanc, Barbara and Bruce Raver of Wyoming, Sandra and Bill Kellum of Greenville; their son-in-law, Nick Vander Molen of Stevensville; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Robert Le Clear of Youngstown, Ohio, Norman Le Clear of St. Petersburg, Fla.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, June and Jim Pettis of Durand, Rovert and Tova Vander Maas of Seattle, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at First Church of God, Greenville, with the Rev. David Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation is Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. Memorial contributions may be given to First Church of God, Greenville.
