Mr. Donald "Don" Leddick, age 87, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, in Lake 
Wales, Florida, after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.

He graduated from Barryton High School and then was drafted into the United 
States Army, where he was a radio operator for the 2nd Battalion, 17th infantry 
unit during World War II.  He received an honorable discharge and returned to 
Michigan where he married Kathleen Loper Jan. 10, 1947.  He attended Wayne 
State University and graduated with a degree in Mortuary Science in 1950. 

The Leddicks made their home in Ionia and in 1966 they purchased the Boynton 
Funeral Home, subsequently the Leddick Funeral Home, where they worked until 
they sold the business in 1987 and retired to Florida.  He was a former member 
of St. John's Lutheran in Ionia, and Grace Lutheran in Winter Haven, Florida.  
He was preceded in death by his wife Katie in August 2013.

Don is loved and survived by his daughters Terrie (Ken) Brownell, Debbie 
(Michael) Gessert, and Claire (John) Gallagher.  Also grandchildren Kevin 
(Lori) Brownell, Jeff (Cory) Gessert, Justin Brownell, Joseph Gallagher, Jenna 
(Aaron) Spadoni, David (Jennifer) Gallagher, Andrew Gallagher, one great-
granddaughter Tessa Gallagher, and one great-grandson Angelo Spadoni.  He is 
also survived by two brothers, Robert (Margaret) Leddick and Francis (Louise) 
Leddick; one sister and brother-in-law Joyce (Jim) Boss; and many nieces and 
nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.  Memorial services and a 
celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Ionia.
