Born Sept. 24, 1915, in Maple Plain, Minn., he was the son of Riley and Nellie Stinson Leece. Graduated from Clarksville High School with the Class of 1935, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was married to Mary Dillenbeck Hale Aug. 2, 1951, in Huntington, Ind.; she survives. He was employed by Dohler-Jarvis Corp. of Grand Rapids for 29 years before retiring in 1976. Surviving in addition to his wife are: a daughter, Connie Fisher of Ionia; three stepsons, Fred Hale of Ionia, James Hale of Lyons and Donald Hale of Clarksville; a stepdaughter, Sharlene Kauffman of Comstock Park; two grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and a sister, Fern Agostini of Ionia. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Clarksville Cemetery, the Rev. Arthur Ruder officiating. No visitation will be held.
