Lehman, 78, of Longview, Texas, formerly of Ionia and Newberry, passed away Dec. 29, 2001 in Longview. He was born May 30, 1923 in Ionia, the son of Fred and Grace (Sprague) Lehman. Russell was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. After the war, Russell owned and operated motels in the Upper Peninsula in Newberry. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed bear hunting and spending his summers in the Upper Peninsula. He is survived by his wife, Audrey; a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Sue Misner of Ionia; his stepson, Richard and Margie Jones of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, George Lehman, Leo and Marilyn Lehman all of Belding and Eldon and Jane Lehman of Stanton; one sister, Caroline Smith of Belding; and several nieces and nephews. Russell was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; and sister, Kathleen Rowley. Interment was in Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Local memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. A luncheon will follow at Shiloh Community Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Palo Baptist Church.
