Ann Marie of Portland was born May 15, 1909 in Detroit. Her parents were Dennis J. and Jenny (Rockal) Curtin, Ann married Fred M. Lehman September 11, 1934 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Portland. Ann worked at Higbee's General Store in Portland as a young woman; this is where she met Fred, a young plumber who worked for Spitzley's Plumbing and Heating. Ann was a great wife, mother and homemaker. She was predeceased by her loving husband Fred and granddaughters Michelle Floyd and Kathy Lehnert. Ann and Fred raised seven children whom survive; Francis "Frank" (Ginger) Lehman of Portland, MaryAnn (James R.) Fedewa of Dimandale, Frederick John Lehman of Irons, Samuel (Marcy) Lehman of Woodland, David Lehman of Hastings, Constance (Mark) Huckendubier of Sunfield, Daniel Lehman of Bark River, 30 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren and 30 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-laws Marjorie Parks of Live Oaks, Fla and Phyllis Lehman of Lansing. Ann was a member of St. Patrick's Choir for many years. Ann enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting and gardening. Ann crocheted or knitted hundreds of afghans, blankets and craft items for the parish festivals over the years. Ann's loved raising roses; her love for roses started at a very young age; she painted in oils a rose when only a young child, which is a cherished heirloom. Pall Bearers are grandsons and great-grandsons of Ann. Visitation will be held at Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home Nov. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Nov. 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Larry King, Pastor St. Patrick's Church in Portland on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at 1 p.m., with Rite of Committal following in Portland Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland, MI. Contributions may be made to Sparrow Hospice Services.
