She was born August 18, 1913, in Orange Township, the daughter of Louis and Bertha Pennfield Janes, in her parents home, where she was later married and where she lived all her life. She attended Badder and Gorham rural schools and was graduated from Ionia High School in 1931. She was married to Elmer Leifheit Feb. 22, 1933. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in February 1983. During World War II, she was employed at A. C. Sparkplug in Ionia and later worked at J. C. Penney Co. and the Vogue Shop. She was a member of LeValley United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Nancy) Smith of Ionia, three grandchildren, and a son-in-law, Gary Booth of Ionia. A daughter, Linda, preceded her in death December 27, 1980. A brother, Floyd Janes, also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. from the LeValley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Willis Braun officiating. Burial will be in Tuttle Cemetery. The family will be at Leddick Funeral Home Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial for LeValley United Methodist Church has been established in the care of the funeral home.
