He came to Michigan with his family in 1855. He followed various occupations until 1873 when he was married to Imogene Haskins and settled on the farm northeast of Woodbury where he has since resided. Mr. Leigh must be counted as one of Michigan's sturdy pioneers as the model farm of today was then an unbroken forest. His naturally conservative and judicial temperament, honorable and upright life gained him the respect and esteem of the people in the community in which he has lived. He died Friday March 8 of neuralgia of the heart after about a week's illness following a general decline for several years back. He was 76 years, 4 months and 16 days of age. His wife, five sons, viz. -- Arthur of Mulliken, Irving of Lansing and Elmer, Hubert and Clarence at home also a brother Spencer Leigh of Lake Odessa and a sister Mrs. Beard of Jackson together with a wide acquaintance of warm friends will mourn his love. The funeral was held Sunday at the house, Rev. Jarvis preaching the sermon and interment was made in Lakeside cemetery.
