William L. Leik, of Ionia, aged 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 
7, 2008.  He was born in Portland on Feb. 22, 1936 to Harold and Pauline 
Leik.  He married Shirley Kauffman on Oct. 27, 1956.  He was retired from 
Peske Plant in Ionia and TRW in Portland.  

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Thomas (Cathy) Leik of 
Kentwood, Patricia (Douglas) Brown of Ionia, Brenda VanDeusen of Orleans and 
Julie (Luke) White of Belding; sisters and brothers, Rosalie (Robert) Sochor, 
Joanne (Ed) Theis, Jim (Diane) Leik and Robert (Inez) Leik; 10 grandchildren; 
three great-grandchildren and special little buddy, Nicholas Boster.  William 
is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Pauline Leik; mother and 
father-in-law, Vance and Alice Kauffman; son-in-law, Rik VanDeusen and 
grandson, RC Brown.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev Melvin Fox and Rev. Charlon 
O. Mason at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic 
Church, Ionia.  Rite of Committal will follow at Balcom Cemetery.  The family 
will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the 
Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia.  A scriptural wake service 
will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
