Leiter, 77, of Lyons, passed away at his home Tuesday, March 16, 2004, after a short illness. He was born April 22, 1926 in Barryton the son of Glen and Cora (Harris) Leiter. He married Faye Priest December 23, 1960 in Muir. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked during his life at Ionia Manufacturing, Triplex of Sunfield and Perdock Iron Works of Ada, from which he retired in 1986. He was a member of the Ionia VFW Post 3732. John enjoyed his retirement years, puttering in his "shop" and being with his family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycles. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Faye (Priest) Leiter of Lyons; daughters, Sharon and Charles Monks of Ionia, Audrey and Ernest Miller of Gowen, Cora and Valentin Garcia of Lyons; sons, Phillip and Nancy Leiter of Lyons, Dale and special friend Sheila McQueen of Lyons; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, ten sisters, four brothers, and one son, Glen (Sam) Leiter. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Funeral Home in Muir with Rev. Kevin Crowell officiating. Interment Lyons Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
