Ionia Gold Star Mother Is Called By Death As End to Long Suffering.

Ionia lost a gold star mother this week in the death of Mrs. Charles Lemke, 66, 
647 Cyrus street, who had been critically ill for several weeks, suffering from 
cancer.  The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from the late residence at 
2 o’clock, and from the Evangelical church at 3 o’clock.  Rev. Benjamin Mohr, 
pastor, was in charge.

She was born in Germany on January 17, 1859, and was Miss Mary Zanders before 
her marriage to Mr. Lemke.  She is survived by her husband and seven children, 
Mrs. August Nimz, Mrs. Don Parker, Mrs. Gustas Nimz, Frank Lemke, Herman Lemke, 
all of Ionia, and Richard Lemke and Mrs. Mabel McLaughlin of Holly.

William Lemke, a son, was killed in action with the United States army.
