Lemke, 95, of 225 West Lincoln, died early Sunday morning at the Ionia Memorial hospital where he had been a patient four weeks. Born in Germany, August 14, 1879, he was the son of Charles and Mary Zander Lemke and came to the United States as a child. He had made his home in the Ionia area since. He was employed at the VanderHayden Brick yard, after which he farmed many years. After retiring from farming he worked four years for the Marshall Wright Lumber company. In August of 1900 he was married in Ionia to the former Hattie Voight, who died November 8, 1968. He was a member of the Zion United Methodist church. Among his survivors are three sons, Fred of Bangor, Delbert of Ionia, and Harold of Grand Rapids; 12 grandchildren; brother, Richard of South Haven; and sister, Mrs. Kathalena Parker of Columbus, Ohio. A daughter, Mrs. Myrtle vanNornrum, died July 30, 1972. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Zion United Methodist church. Rev. Nolan Williams will officiate and interment will be at the Highland Park cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Zion United Methodist church.
