Glenna Lenhard dies at Ionia
Mrs. Glenna C. Lenhard, 92, of Clarksville, passed away Wednesday morning at the
ionia Manor where she had been a patient for three years.

She was born February 7, 1883 at Carson City, the youngest daughter of Jeffery and 
Melvina (Myers) Huggins. She was a graduate of the Clarksville High School and
attended the Ferris Institute at Big Rapids and taught in the Bloomer township School of the

Montcalm Public School system and at Nadlau. She moved to Clarksville after
accepting a position in the Clarksville school and taught there from 1905-1908.

February 28, 1908 she married Moses P. Lenhard and he passed away January 27, 1937.
They had lived most of their married life in Clarksville.

Mrs. Lenhard was active in the Clarksville Bible Church, Literary Social, C.I.C.,
Past President of the Ionia County Republican organization, Past President and first
women to serve on the Clarksville Board of Education, owned and operated a general store and
later the Coffee Shop in Clarksville, for many years.

Mrs. Lenhard was a newspaper correspondent for 35 years, which included Grand Rapids
Press, The Ionia County News. The Daily Sentinel Standard, The Freeport News and the
Clarksville Record.

Mrs. Lenhard's only near survivor is a niece Mrs. Thomas (Martha Ann) Montgomery of
Carson City.

Mrs. Lenhard reposed at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel at Clarksville until
Saturday forenoon then taken to the Clarksville Bible Church where funeral service were held
at 1:30. Rev. Paul Boger and Rev. Elwood Norton officiated with burial in the Clarksville
Cemetery.
