Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2002

Elenita E. Leonard, 85, of Ionia, passed away on Sun., Nov. 3, 2002 at Laurels 
of Fulton Nursing Home.  She was born on March 29, 1917 in Peru, South 
America.  Mrs. Leonard resided in Ionia and spent most her life and raised her 
family here.

She was preceded in death by her parents.  Surviving are her daughter, Barbara 
Melvin Sorrell of Hubbardston; son, Lloyd (Julie) Leonard of Greenwood, Ind.; 
four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six great, great-grandchildren; 
sister, Libia Grossnickle of Florida.

The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. James Kendall, Pastor of the 
Marantha United Brethren Church at 1 p.m., Wednesday at the Cook Funeral Home, 
220 Rich St., Ionia, with interment following at Balcom Cemetery.  The family 
will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday at 
the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 
the American Alzheimers Association, in memory of Elenita E. Leonard.
