The Ionia County News, Thursday, July 21, 1960


Word was received of death of Mrs. Bessie Face Leonard, who died at her home 
in Detroit Thursday.  

Mrs. Leonard, 72, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arba Face, and was born on 
what is now the Robert Pierson farm on East M-44.  At the age of 16 she with 
her parents moved to Belding.  In 1909 she was married to George Leonard, now 
deceased.  She was a retired teacher, having taught in Detroit and Royal Oak 
until she was 70.  She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert Gass, one son 
Don, two grandchildren and several cousins.

Funeral service was held in Detroit, Sunday A.M. with graveside service in 
Orleans Cemetery, Sunday at 2:00 P.M.
