Retired Farmer Passes Away Tuesday

Bert D. Lepard, 83, retired farmer, passed away Tuesday morning at the McDowell 
Nursing Home at Hasting's after a long illness. He had been a patient there 
since last November but had been hospitalized several times. A native of Odessa 
township, he was a lifelong resident of the local area moving to his home in the 
village about ten years ago.

His wife, the former Dessie Bachelder, passed away in May 1954 after sixty-years 
of married life.

Mr. Lepard was a member of the Progressive Brethren church, now known as the 
Grace Brethren church.

Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Racie Haller and a son Forrest both of rural Lake 
Odessa; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday (today) at 1:30 at the Pickens Funeral 
Chapel with burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Rev. Doriene Speas of Hastings 
officiated.
