Passes Without Warning, on Country Club Grounds, Tuesday Afternoon. Alden Lepper, a life-long resident of the city and county dropped dead at 4:20 Tuesday afternoon, on the Country Club grounds where he was working with George Pettingill. The two men were doing spading together, near the south porch, when Mr. Lepper suddenly lurched and then fell under the porch. Mr. Pettingill pulled him out and spoke to him but got no response. Dr. H. B. Knapp was summoned from the grounds, and said that he was dead before he fell. He had said on Saturday that he was not feeling well, but his indisposition was not considered serious. Mr. Lepper was 66 years old and was born in Ionia. Most of his later life was spent working for the Electric company and afterward for the late H. R. Wagar personally. His wife, who survives him, was Miss Hunter of Lowell before her marriage. Four children are living: Mrs. Henry Quigg of Hillsdale, Mrs. Max Wilson of Grand Rapids, Iva of Detroit, and Eugene Lepper of the city. There are six grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted by Rev. C. D. Hoag at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the residence, 639 Prospect Street. Burial in Highland Park.
