Arla Lesky, 85, of Ionia, went to join her Lord and deceased husband, John, on 
Wednesday, December 26, 2012. Arla was born on May 1, 1927 in Ionia to Merle 
and Mary Rusnell.

She lived her entire life in Ionia and was a member of St. Peter and Paul 
Catholic Church. Arla worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, but most 
enjoyed the years she spent at Ionia High School as the Assistant Librarian. 

Arla is remembered by her family as friends as a woman of incredible grace, 
patience and perseverance. She modeled unconditional love for her family, 
seeing only the best in everyone.

Arla was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her infant 
grandson, Jonn, her brother Dale, siser Artis and brother Jay.

She is survived by her children, Steve and Sue Lesky of Holland, Phil Lesky, 
Sue and Terry Long of Ionia; six grandchildren, Leslie, Curt, Kevin, Steffany, 
Marissa, and Matt; three great-grandchildren, Macy, Myah and Sophia; brothers 
and sister, Karl Rusnell, Avis White, Ben Rusnell, and Skip Rusnell (Alice); 
sisters and brothers-in-law, Annie Langdon, Florence Hildebrant, Donna 
Schueller, Phyllis Cahill, Bob and Margaret Bennett, Edna Gommeson, Bill and 
Mary Seymour. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private grave-side service for the family is planned. Per her wishes there 
will be no visitation. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home of Ionia. Anyone

contributions can be made to the Mucella Foundation for Brain Tumor Research or 
Hospice of Holland.
