Born November 7, 1948 in Ionia, son of Albert & Greta (Wheeler) Lesky. Graduate of S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic High School, class of 1966. Joined the U.S. Navy at age 17, turned 18 in basic training & served on the USS Paul Revere with two tours of Vietnam moving Marines in & out of the Country. Worked at the General Tire in Ionia, then furthered his education & went to work for Department of Corrections as a corrections officer at Michigan Reformatory then at Bellamy Creek, retiring in 2005. He loved Mopar muscle cars, restored several & won Best of Show with his 1971 GTX & with his Plymouth Satellite. Gary never married or had children, that made hime a really good Uncle. He enjoyed golfing & visited his parents in Florida boating & fishing on the gulf & bike rides on the beach. Preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, many Aunts, Uncles, & Cousins, & two amazing dogs, Sedrick and Ginger. Survived by his brother & sister-in-law, Dennis & Louise Lesky, his niece, Dawn & Jay Sherman, nephews, Mike Lesky & Matt Lesky, great-nieces,Paige & Sarah Sherman & Tara, John, & Easton Falcone, his special friends Jim Westover & Tom White. Special gratitude to the staff of UMH Sparrow Ionia Hospital, The Laurels of Carson City & the Green Acres staff for their care. A Memorial visitation will take place on Friday, May 15 at Lake Funeral Home, Ionia from 4 to 7pm. Funeral Mass at S.S.Peter & Paul Church on Saturday, May 16, at 11am. Interment & Military Honors to follow at Easton Township Cemetery. Muscle cars, hot rods and car show shirts are welcome & encouraged.
