Gayle Edwin Leslie, 86, of Ionia passed away Jan. 28, 2011. He was born Aug. 8, 
1924, in Grand Rapids, the son of Paul and Helen (Dumper) Leslie.

He married Lucille Kyser Aug. 16, 1944 in Ionia. Gayle graduated from Ionia 
High School in 1942. Gayle served during World War II in the Navy in the 
Philippines. He worked for General Tier where he was a Millwright and Pattern 
maker for 43 years. Gayle was a member of the First United Methodist Church. 
Member of the Belding, and Ionia VFW. He was a member of the Ionia Masonic 
Lodge.

Gayle is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lucille Leslie of Ionia; 
daughter Sharon (Dallas) Houghton of Fenwick; five grandchildren, Mike (Amanda) 
Leslie of Fruitport, Laura (Joseph) Lutz of Grand Haven, Thomas (Stacie) 
Houghton of Saranac, Nathan (Naomi) Houghton of Bath, Casey (Nicole) Houghton 
of Ionia; daughter-in-law Teresa Leslie of Ionia; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son Thomas Leslie in 2006.	

Funeral services will be held Monday, 11 a.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia 
with Pastor Larry Brown officiating. Interment Saranac Cemetery. The family 
will receive friends and relatives 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
