Oct. 23, 2000 at Heartland Health Care Center in Ionia. Verona was born April 26, 1901, in Kent County, the daughter of Charles A. and Alta (Luscombe) Jenson. She moved to Belding as a child, was educated in Belding school and came to Ionia in 1924. Verona was married to Lawrence Kammers who preceded her in death in 1937. She married Lee Wiseman in 1944 and he preceded her in death in 1959. Verona married Paul Leslie in 1962 and he preceded her in death in 1985. Mrs. Leslie worked as a sewer for Grand Valley Chair, Reed Furniture and the Belding silk mill when she was a young lade. Verona was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ionia, the Ionia Eastern Stars where she was a past Worthy matron, the Royal neighbors, the American Legion and was a life member of the World War I Auxiliary. Mrs. Leslie is survived by one daughter, Pauline (Paul) Harwood of Ionia; one son, Wayne (Lois) Kammers of Ionia; two step-sons, Gayle (Lucille) Leslie of Ionia and Cecil (Alice) Wiseman of Texas; numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray (Adell) Jenson of Belding; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husbands, by two sisters, Thelma and Doris. Funeral services for Mrs. Verona Leslie will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Myers Memorial Chapel, Main Street, Ionia with Rev. James Bennett officiating. Interment will be in Easton Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church or Ionia County Commission on Aging.
