Lester, 72, died Friday in a Galveston, Texas hospital, where he had a winter home for the past two years. Born in Winona, Minnesota, Nov. 24, 1903, he made his home in Lansing, until he moved to Lake Odessa about 15 years ago, where he retired from business a few years ago. He was a former sales manager for a Wisconsin firm. Mr. Lester was a member of St. Edward’s church, Lake Odessa Lions club, and one of the organizers of the senior citizens group of Lake-O. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Mardell McDonald of Lexington, Mass., Mrs. Virginia Larson of Mercer Island, Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Mary Ellen Stinsky, of Iowa City, Iowa.; a son, Lt. Cmdr. Timothy Lester, serving on board the USS Gridley in Australia, ten grandchildren; a sister, Sister Virginia Lester at the C. John Covent at Independence, Iowa and a brother, John L. of Peoria, Ill. His wife Edna preceded him in death Oct. 22, 1973, in a boating accident on the Atlantic Ocean. The body is at the Pickens-Koops Funeral chapel until 1 p.m. Tuesday with Fr. Charles A. Antekier officiating at services in St. Edward’s church. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Pickens-Koops chapel. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery. Memorial contributions may be left at the chapel, or sent to Fr. Holachek in Galveston.
