Lake Odessa Wave  
          EDNA LESTER DIES IN SHIP TRAGEDY
   Edna Lester, wife of Thomas O. Lester, and longtime resident of Lake Odessa died
at sea Sunday night during a tragic fire aboard a Greek freighter bound for Europe.  
The Lesters were among 10 passengers on the 6,373 ton Eurygenes which was enroute 
from New York to London.  The crew was forced to abandon the freighter at midnight 
Sunday 350 miles southwest of Halifax, Nova Scotia, search officials said.
   She is survived by her husband, Thomas O. Lester;  3 daughters, Mrs. Joe Mardell
of Hampford, England, Mrs. Richard (Virginia) Larsen of Mercer Island, Washington, 
Mrs. Mark (Mary Ellen) Stimski of Iowa City, Iowa; a son, Lt. Timothy O. Lester with 
the Navy at San Diego, California;  and a brother, Irvin of Chicago.
   Funeral arrangements are pending arrival of the body.  A memorial fund will be
established with envelopes available at Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa.
