LeValley, an old resident of this township, died September 5, in his 80th year. The funeral was held in the M. E. church Tuesday, September 7th, interment being made in Tuttle cemetery. Mr. LeValley was born in Orleans County, New York in 1818. In 1844 he came to Ionia county and located in Orange township, where he has lived more than a half century. Mr. LeValley was just such a pioneer as was needed in every locality; from his advent in the township he was active in church , school and political affairs. In the early days Sabbath school was held in his log cabin. He was one of the organizers of the township, but one of whom yet survives. Mr. LeValley gave the township its name and he has been honored by nearly every office in the township. For 26 years he was justice of the peace and for 25 years was an officer of his school district. Mr. LeValley was public spirited and a supporter of all that was good. In his death, Orange township loses one of her most worthy and well-known pioneers.
