Lyons Herald, 29 May 1919

Mrs. Sarah Lewis died Sunday evening, May 25, 1919, at the age of nearly 83 
years.  

Sarah Whitlock Saunders was born at Bicton, Devonshire, England, June 7, 1836.  
She was married to Stephen L. Asprey and they soon moved to Canada.  One son 
was born to them, William S. Asprey of Newaygo, who survives.  Later they moved 
to Ohio, where the husband died April 5, 1865.  After a few year she moved to 
Michigan and married Andrew T. Burgess, and they lived at Maple Corners for 
some years.  Sometime after Mr. Burgess’ death, she came to Lyons and later was 
married to John Lewis.  For several years she has been cared for at the home of 
Mrs. Howe, where she died in the peace of Christian faith.  

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. and burial made at Portland.
