Hastings Reminder - 27 June 2000
C. Lewis, 'Butch" age 68, of Woodland, went suddenly to be with his Lord on 
Tuesday, June 20, 2000.  Carl was born on September 30, 1931 in Mason, the son 
of Clarence and Gladys Lewis.  He married Mary Lee Bump on August 26, 1955, and 
she preceded him in death on August 2, 1984.  Carl was married on February 28, 
1987 to Eva Haas.  Carl served proudly in the United State Marine Corps during 
the Korean War.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and brother-in-
law, and a wonderful friend to all who knew him.  Carl retired from General 
Motors after 30 years of service.  He was a member of Lake Odessa VFW Post 4461.

Carl loved visiting with family and friends.  Some of his favorite past times 
included working outside gardening, traveling to Mt. Pleasant with his wife, 
Eva, to try his hand at winning, and spending time with his family and 
friends.  His kindness and sense of humor will be greatly missed.  

Carl was also preceded in death by his parents; infant twin children, Carla and 
Eric; daughter, Michelle; and brothers, Bill, Bob, Dan and Russell.  He is 
survived by his wife, Eva; son, Jon (Linda) Lewis; daughter, Lisa (Don) Mantlo; 
step-son, Paul (Judy) Gonzales; sister, Margaret "Peg" Lance; grandchildren, 
Rob, David, Margarett, Jodi and Jessica, Rachel and Christopher, Steffen and 
Andrea, Damon, Garett, and Derek; and many cousins , nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Carl were held on Friday, June 23, 2000 at Koops Funeral 
Chapel.  Burial was in Lakeside cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made 
to Make-A-Wish Foundation or the donor's favorite charity.  Arrangements were 
made by the Koops Funeral Chapel.
