Ionia Sentinel Standard, 14 Feb 1985

Clare L. Lewis, 80, of 233 Summit St., Muir, died Wednesday morning at Ionia
County Memorial Hospital.  Born Oct. 1, 1904, in Montcalm County, he was the son
of Burton and Ella Meyers Lewis.

He married Pauline Ellison Oct. 12, 1934, in Muir, they made their home in Muir
since.  He was employed by Fisher Body for 12 years and then for 25 years by
A.O. Smith and predecessor companies, retiring in 1969.

He was a member of Muir Presbyterian Church, the Golden Years Senior Citizens
Group of Lyons and Muir, and of General Tire Retirees.

Surviving are his wife Pauline; two daughters, Mrs. Kendall (Virginia) Rogers of
Muir and Mrs. William (Marian) Scott of Muir; four grandchildren and one great
grandchild; and two sisters, Ivah Bakkerarkema and Myrtle Barton, both of Lansing.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Hull Memorial Chapel, Muir,
with the Rev. Bettie Dobbie officiating.  Burial will be in Easton Cemetery.  A
memorial for the Muir Presbyterian Church Parsonage Fund has been established,
in care of the funeral home.
