Royal Owen Lewis, 76, died at his home in Boston township Monday morning,
January 30, at 6:00 o’clock from cancer of the throat.

He was born in Boston township March 31, 1862, the eldest of 11 children of
Andrew J. and Adeline Chase Lewis.  He lived on the farm his father purchased
from the government in 1860 until 12 years ago.  The farm was sold last week.

During the year 1882 he was married to Miss Ella Richardson of Elmdale.  She
died in April, 1926.  To this union a son, Raymond C. Lewis, of South Boston,
was born who survives.  April 1927 he was married to Miss Lula Payne of Grand
Rapids, who survives.  Surviving besides the wife and son are three
grandchildren, Mrs. Esther Vanderwol of Lansing and Leonard and Gaylord Lewis of
South Boston; one great-grandson, Ronald Vanderwol of Lansing; two sisters, Mrs.
Celia Williams and Mrs. Eva Yager of Royal Oak and two brothers, Burton Lewis of
Saranac and Archie Lewis of Lowell.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Saranac Congregational church
Thursday afternoon, February 2, at 2 o’clock with the Rev. John A. Gehring
assisted by Rev. C. A. Glass of Lowell, officiating.  Interment will be made in
Saranac cemetery.
